Edmond Ku is one of the most essential employees at Theranos; after Elizabeth founds her own company, she collaborates with engineers Rakesh Madhava and Edmond Ku to construct a gadget that can test blood with only a single drop of blood.
Both Edmond and Madhava are engineers who specialize in device creation. James Hiroyuki Liao, known for his appearances in Cowboy Bebop and Manifest, plays the part of Edmond Ku. In contrast, Utkarsh Ambudkar plays the part of Madhava.
Edmond Ku is based on the real-life Ku; he is an engineer in Silicon Valley who is recognized for his problem-solving abilities.
He was born in Hong Kong before moving to the United States. Ku was hired by Holmes in 2006 as the head of the Engineering Division; he remained at Theranos until 2008; he was tasked with developing Theranos 1.0, the company’s initial prototype.
Why Did Edmond Ku Quiet?
In the third episode of “The DropOut,” Elizabeth Holmes is challenged to demonstrate that she is capable of handling the responsibilities of a CEO. And to demonstrate this, she desires to accelerate the prototype’s development, despite the fact that the technology necessary for its flawless operation is still years away.
Therefore, Elizabeth recruits a separate engineer, Brendan Morris, to oversee his own competitive engineering team. In order to speed progress, Elizabeth pits the two teams against one another.
Elizabeth constantly observes the KU team, but she soon fires them because she is unhappy with their performance. Madhava left the company shortly after KU was sacked because he was unhappy with Elizabeth’s approach.
“The Edison” is the name of the gadget constructed by the Morris team, however, it was incapable of giving reliable findings.
