Joshua Holt Hamilton is an ex-professional outfielder from the United States. Hamilton was a Major League Baseball (MLB) player with the Cincinnati Reds, the Texas Rangers, and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. 2010 American League Most Valuable Player (MVP) award winner. He was a five-time MLB All-Star.
In the 1999 Major League Baseball draught, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays selected Hamilton with the first overall pick. Before his drug addiction and injuries destroyed his career in 2001, he was regarded as a talent of the highest caliber.
Prior to the 2007 season, the Chicago Cubs (selecting for the Cincinnati Reds) selected Josh in the Rule 5 draught and traded him to the Texas Rangers in the offseason.

According to sources, Josh Hamilton pled guilty in February 2022 to a misdemeanor stemming from an altercation with his adolescent daughter.
Last year, following the conclusion of his playing career, Josh Hamilton was inducted into the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame.

Michael Young, a former teammate of Hamilton’s with the Rangers, described the phrase “whole package” as a “huge understatement.”
Hamilton thanked the Rangers for giving him two chances, the first in 2007 and the second after his time in Los Angeles turned sour.
Hamilton had little time to celebrate his Hall of Fame induction. The former All-Star turned himself into a Texas jail after being accused of child abuse.
The 14-year-old daughter of Hamilton informed his ex-wife that he had struck her. If convicted, Hamilton may be sentenced to between two and ten years in jail and was freed on a $35,000 bond.
According to the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office’s social media posts, Hamilton pleaded guilty to unlawful restraint in Fort Worth, Texas, as part of a plea deal that dismissed a 2020 felony accusation for damage to a child.
State District Judge Mike Thomas placed the former outfielder on one year of deferred probation, fined him $500, and ordered him to pay court fees, perform community service, and attend parenting and anger management programs.

Judge Thomas also ordered Hamilton not to consume alcohol, submit to random urine drug tests, and have no contact with his restrained daughter. The charge will be dropped if Hamilton fulfills the terms of his probation.
Hamilton Suffered From Stress and Relapsed After Leaving Texas
At age 31 and coming off a season in which he hit a career-high 43 home runs, Hamilton was regarded as the best position player in his free-agent class. In addition to emerging star Mike Trout and future Hall of Fame first baseman Albert Pujols, the Los Angeles Angels signed Josh Hamilton to a five-year, $125 million contract.
Hamilton never lived up to expectations in Texas, hitting just.255 over two seasons with 31 home runs and 123 RBIs. In 2014, Angels fans jeered Hamilton and he went hitless in 17 playoff at-bats. When it was found that Hamilton relapsed into his drug addiction and freely disclosed it to Major League Baseball, Angels owner Arte Moreno demanded Hamilton’s release.

In April 2015, Los Angeles traded Hamilton back to Texas. Hamilton displayed glimpses of his former self and hit eight home runs in 50 games, but it was evident that he would never again play like an All-Star. After knee problems wiped out the 2016 and 2017 seasons for Hamilton, the Rangers dismissed him in April 2017.
