John J. “J.J.” and Lesta Vanier’s son Jack Vanier, who owned the CK Ranch near Brookville, Kansas, formerly produced the most purebred Hereford cattle in the nation, were born in Salina, Kansas. The family-run ranches in Wyoming, Colorado, and Oklahoma are also included.
