When it’s working properly, Snapchat is a fun method to interact with pals and display your hilarious mind. Unfortunately, the messaging software occasionally has bugs that can be extremely infuriating for its users.
A number of Snapchat users have recently reported that their sent messages remain in the “pending” status beside a grey send arrow; however, it is unclear what this status actually indicates. What we know is as follows.
In Snapchat, What Does “Pending” Mean?
Pending on Snapchat is equivalent to “pending” in the real world, which probably doesn’t come as much of a surprise to you. Simply put, it means that Snapchat has your message and is waiting for you to do something before it can deliver it. Next to the message you just gave your friend, you’ll notice a grey arrow. Really, though, in that regard.
If you are not friends with the recipient, your Snapchat message will appear as “pending” until you become friends. This a possible sign that the recipient has deleted you from their Snapchat list of friends. This is one of the few ways to find out for sure if you are still on someone’s Snapchat friends list since Snapchat doesn’t alert users when they are unfriended.
On the other hand, don’t lose hope! Just because you see a grey “pending” arrow doesn’t indicate your friend has dumped you. It’s possible that the invitee just didn’t see the request for friendship (especially if they are a relatively new friend). It’s also possible that you’re experiencing an issue with the app itself; in this case, uninstalling and reinstalling the program is your best bet (though you may have to sign in again afterward).

Why Do We Have a Potential Error?
There are a few common causes for this problem.
- You sent a friend request, but they haven’t accepted it yet. When a person sends a friend request to another user, the recipient must accept the request before Snapchat can send them a message.
- You have been removed from this person’s friend list. Your Snapchat friend may no longer be following you because they removed you from their friend list.
- Your close pal has stopped communicating with you. The recipient may have blocked you, and Snapchat won’t tell you about it. When someone blocks you on Snapchat, they will no longer be viewable to you under any circumstances.
- Your mobile device is disconnected from the internet. While your mobile device is disconnected from a cellular or Wi-Fi network, Snapchat will show a “Waiting to send” pending notice until you rejoin.
- We’ve had to disable your Snap Inc. account. Your Snapchat features may be disabled if you have been reported for harassing other users or breaking Snapchat’s terms of service.
Simply a random bug in the Snapchat app. It’s possible that there’s a glitch or technical problem with the app. - Perhaps there is an issue with Snapchat at the moment. It’s possible that Snapchat as a whole is experiencing a temporary outage.
What to Do When You Have a Snapchat Message Waiting
There are two potential solutions to the Snapchat pending message error:
- Make sure your phone and internet are connected. Make sure your iPad or other tablet is linked to a stable Wi-Fi network and that your iPhone or Android smartphone has a good mobile connection. Turn off Wi-Fi and connect using cellular data if available if you feel the network has ceased functioning properly.
- It’s worth a shot to send a snap to a different pal. The quickest approach to finding out if your Snapchat acquaintance has unfriended or blocked you is to ask them directly.
- Employ a different message service to get in touch with your pal. Send them a direct message (DM) on Twitter, WhatsApp, Discord, Telegram, Vero, or any other messaging platform to remind them to accept your friend request on Snapchat. However, you should wait at least 24 hours before doing this.
- Make your exit gracefully. If someone has unfriended or blocked you on Snapchat, it’s advisable to move on and not try to contact them again lest Snapchat see your messages as harassment or bullying and remove your account privileges.

- Power down and then back up your gadget. There may be a problem with the Snapchat app if all of your messages have a pending error status. In many cases, a simple restart of your iPhone or Android smart device would rectify the situation.
- See if Snap Chat is currently experiencing any issues. In the event that the entire Snapchat platform is down, there are a few ways to check.
