In the ‘2007 Amateur Draft,’ Stanton was chosen by the ‘Miami Marlins in the second round, 76th overall. The Gulf Coast League Marlins, a minor league affiliate of the ‘Marlins,’ is where he made his professional baseball debut. His next stop was the “Jamestown Jammers” of the “Class A-Short Season New York-Penn League.”
He later played for the Jupiter Hammerheads of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League, the Greensboro Grasshoppers of the Class A-South Atlantic League, and ultimately the Jacksonville Suns of the Class AA-Southern League.
Stanton was considered the best prospect in the Florida Marlins organization and was selected for the “All-Star Futures Game” (also known as Miami Marlins).
He was called up to the Florida Marlins’ major league team in June 2010. When he made his major league debut, he was the third-youngest player for the Marlins (20 years, 212 days).
