When you’re at home, it’s difficult enough to keep up with all of your favourite shows; add travel to the mix, and it’s easy to fall behind. Maybe you’d want to have a party at a friend’s house.
Whether you’re visiting somewhere that doesn’t have cable or embarking on a road trip, you can watch your favourite shows on YouTube TV from wherever you are.
Your YouTube TV subscription ($50 per month) includes an unlimited-storage cloud DVR that you can view from anywhere in the United States.
This means you may access it from anywhere, from the airport to your great aunt’s mountain home, as long as you have a cellular or Wi-Fi signal. The CW, TBS, Disney, Cartoon Network, ESPN, local networks, and others are among the channels available.
Apps designed for streaming sticks like Roku, Apple TV ($110 on eBay), and Fire TV may be used to watch shows on TVs. You can also watch on Xbox One, Android TV, Google Chromecast ($24 at Walmart), and other devices.
If you download a show on one device, it will be available on all of your other devices as well. Here’s how to keep up with your favourite shows while on the move.
Don’t forget to bring your streaming device.
Are you visiting a relative who doesn’t have a cable subscription? You can watch YouTube TV on any TV that has built-in apps for Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV, or something similar.
Simply bring your streaming stick along and plug it into the HDMI port on your TV (usually located on the side or back of the TV).
Once it’s hooked in, navigate to the home screen by hitting the Home button on your streaming remote; apps will appear here. You’ll then choose the YouTube TV app, and you won’t have to log in again because everything is already saved on your streaming stick.
On a smart TV, use the YouTube TV app.
You can watch your favourite TV series if the hotel or relative’s house you’re staying at has a smart TV. You’ll need to download the YouTube TV app if they don’t already have it; the process will vary depending on the sort of smart TV they have, but you can normally search for the app and click the download icon.
You’ll need to check-in using the Google account you used to sign up when the app has been installed.
On a PlayStation 4, you can watch YouTube TV.
YouTube revealed earlier this week that its live streaming service is now available on PS4. You’ll need to log into your PlayStation Store account and search for YouTube TV to do so. Then click the Add to Cart button. On your PS4, you’ll now be able to watch live shows.

Send your programme to a television set.
You can cast from any device to a compatible TV, whether it’s an Android, iPhone ($500 at Best Buy), or computer. A box with a Wi-Fi signal in the lower-left corner represents the Cast icon. If you’re using an iPhone or Mac, instead of Chromecast, you’ll utilise AirPlay to play your choices.
When using an Android or iPhone,
1. Make sure your phone and Chromecast are on the same Wi-Fi network.
2. On your phone, launch the YouTube TV app.
3. Tap the Cast symbol in the upper right corner of the home screen.
4. Choose the device to which you want to cast.
5. Choose the show or film you want to see.
6. Press the Play button.

On a Personal Computer
1. Make sure your computer and Chromecast are on the same Wi-Fi network.
2. Open your favourite browser and go to tv.youtube.com.
3. Choose the show or film you wish to see.
4. When the video has fully loaded, click the Cast icon. If you’re using a Mac, go to the menu bar and click the AirPlay button.

Use your phone, computer, or tablet to watch your movie or show.
You can watch YouTube TV from your phone, computer, or tablet when you’re somewhere without a TV, such as in a car or during your lunch break at work.
Simply go to tv.youtube.com and login if you’re using a PC. Simply open the YouTube TV app on your phone or tablet to begin streaming. To use the YouTube TV app, you must be connected to Wi-Fi or by using cellular data.
