Who is Patty Gasso Married To? Meet Her Supportive Partner!

Many people agree that Patty Gasso is one of the best college softball coaches of all time. She is currently in her 30th season as head coach of the Oklahoma Sooners, and she hopes to guide the team to its eighth national championship—all seven have come during her tenure—and fourth straight.

Gasso also owns the third-highest victory total of any collegiate softball coach in history, with a record of 1,512-352-2, making her the most successful coach currently in use. With at least 1,000 Division I NCAA victories, she also holds the highest winning percentage of any softball coach.

She’s one of the best softball coaches in history, but she’s not the only one in her family. See below for additional details about her husband, Jim Gasso.

Who is Jim, the Husband of Patty Gasso?

Since 2010, Jim Gasso has been the owner and operator of the IntenCity Sports Training Academy located in Norman, Oklahoma. In addition, he has worked in high school and collegiate athletics for 41 years.

Prior to the 2023–24 season, Gasso was appointed head softball coach of the Mid-America Christian Evangels. Since teaching softball at Bishop McGuiness High School in Oklahoma City in 2018, this is his first coaching position.

In his first year as head coach, the team finished with a 37-17 record, however they lost in the first round of the NAIA softball tournament. When Gasso was hired as head coach, Patty Gasso said she was thrilled since he sacrificed his career so she could follow hers.

Following the 2023 Norman Regional, she told the media:

“There are numerous coaches. It’s going to get insane. It’s going to get insane. I’m thrilled for him since he sacrificed his career for me, so this opportunity at this late stage of life is precisely what he wanted. He was working with a spark, but I’m not sure whether it was the right fit.

She went on:

“He felt as though God was calling him to apply for this job when it became available. He enjoys changing the lives of young people, but he also enjoys sharing the gospel and his faith, so I’m thrilled about this wonderful opportunity for him to do so.”

Florida defeated Oklahoma 9-3 in the opening game of the WCWS semifinals on Monday, ending Patty Gasso’s attempt to lead Oklahoma to five consecutive Women’s College World Series championships.

The Gators forced a do-or-die game on Tuesday, ending the Sooners’ 20-game winning streak, which was a record for the NCAA Division I tournament. On June 5, the victor of the decisive match will advance to the WCWS finals and take on Texas in a best-of-three series.

The 13-run humiliation they suffered against UCLA in 2019 was the biggest loss Oklahoma had suffered in 74 WCWS games, while the six-run loss to Florida was the second-largest.

Gasso acknowledged that her team had a difficult game because Florida hit the ball well and her Sooners were unable to react, particularly when they had runners in scoring position.

“Looking at the box scores, it’s difficult since we left ten runners in scoring position. Overall, we didn’t play well enough to win this game. It was more than just a pitch. “It was everywhere,” she stated.

In Tuesday’s second semifinal matchup against Florida, Gasso would need to draw on her extensive experience to maintain her hopes of reaching the Women’s College World Series finals five times in a row and winning the national championship four times in a row.
