Olympic Medalist Stephen Nedoroscik is Set to Be Part of the Cast for Season 33 of ‘Dancing With the Stars

In 2024, Stephen Nedoroscik has already earned two bronze medals. Now, on Dancing With the Stars, he is aiming to win the prized mirrorball trophy.

Season 33 of the ABC competition series, which debuts on Tuesday, September 17, will feature Nedoroscik, a 25-year-old celebrity contender, as its first celebrity contestant. While Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Derek Hough will be returning at the judges’ table, Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough are set to return as cohosts.

The remainder of the star-studded ensemble, along with their professional partners, will be revealed at a later time.

With his pommel horse prowess during the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, Nedoroscik went viral and was quickly dubbed “pommel horse guy.”

Over the course of the games, viewers fell even more in love, falling head over heels in love with Nedoroscik’s bespectacled Clark Kent vibes and his amazing ability to slumber almost anyplace. (The athlete gained notoriety on July 29 as it appeared that he took a quick nap during the men’s team gymnastics final.)

In an August episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Nedoroscik described his contemplative moment as follows:

“We get there earlier and then warm up and then march out and compete.” I had to finally settle down when it reached the [pommel] horse. I’m just leaning my head back, doing my breathing techniques, and visualizing a lot—like, a hundred times—there.

Nedoroscik seems to be embracing all of the attention he has received, but his charming, cutesy demeanor isn’t the only thing the athlete brought to the Olympics.

After winning bronze in the men’s team final, Nedoroscik and his colleagues Team USA gymnasts, Fred Richard, Asher Hong, Paul Juda, and Brody Malone, achieved the first medal for the U.S. men’s gymnastics team in sixteen years.

“It was, I believe, the best moment of my life,” Nedoroscik said to reporters following his performance. “I’m really glad I was there.”

A few days later, Nedoroscik finished behind Kazakhstan’s Nariman Kurbanov and Ireland’s Rhys McClenaghan in the men’s pommel horse final, winning a second bronze medal.

Now that the Olympics are over, at least until Los Angeles in 2028, Nedoroscik is focusing on something else entirely dance.

The gymnast was a favorite fancast before the closing ceremonies even started, and early this month, rumors started to circulate that he might be chosen for DWTS. (He was ranked first on Us Weekly’s wish list for the DWTS Paris Olympians, along with Australian breakdancer Raygun and Jordan Chiles.)

Nedoroscik talked about the rumors that he might be on season 33 in an interview with Access Hollywood on August 14. The native of Massachusetts revealed that although one of his greatest fears is dancing, he is “the type of guy who pushes boundaries.”

Nedoroscik mentioned the Olympics as an example of a certain kind of “uncomfortable environment” that he was able to confront head-on.

He told the site, “It’s definitely not out of the question; I’ve gotten comfortable with being uncomfortable.” “We’ll see,” was his reply when asked if he was willing to attempt for the mirrorball trophy.

In addition to his sporting accomplishments, Nedoroscik is a fervent supporter of men’s gymnastics and tries to increase public knowledge of the discipline. In addition, he is committed to helping others who have limited vision.

He uses his position to advocate for accessibility and equality inside the gymnastics community and beyond.
