Lottery applications are now being accepted for 77 brand-new apartments at 269 Wallabout St. in East Williamsburg. The cheapest one-bedroom apartments rent for $770 per month. Participants’ annual household incomes must be between $29,760 and $202,515 to be considered for this lottery.
Households with annual incomes between 40% and 115% of the local median are eligible for the 1, 2, 3, and 4-bedroom rent-stabilized flats (AMI). This varies from household to household. Presently, a two-person household in New York City may expect an annual median income of $106,800. There are 14 two-bedroom apartments priced between $35,829 and $57,640, catering to families with two to five members. These apartments have a monthly cost of $915.
Each unit is equipped with a dishwasher and features premium finishes including stainless steel appliances and granite or quartz worktops. The complex provides a garage, a common laundry room, and bike storage. Gas, hot water, and heat are included in the rent, however, tenants are responsible for paying for electricity. To use the laundry facilities, a small fee is required.
Flushing Avenue serves the G train, and Lorimer Street serves the J and M trains and is the closest subway stop. The builders have designated fifty percent of the rent-controlled units for locals. A 5% bonus is also given to those who live or work in New York City. Apartments for those with mobility, vision, and hearing impairments will be available in a limited number.
All applications, whether submitted electronically or via regular mail, must be received by January 9, 2019. If you’re keen on applying for one of these apartments and think you might meet the requirements, you can do so through NYC Housing Connect. This link will take you to information about the lottery. Applicants that submit duplicate resumes or cover letters may be disregarded.
