Sadly, American actor Kevin Conroy passed away on November 10, 2022. He was born on November 30, 1955. Most notably, he has provided the voice for the DC Comics character Batman in a number of media, beginning with the 1990s Warner Bros. animated series Batman: The Animated Series and continuing with other TV series and feature films in the DC Animated Universe.
Conroy’s portrayal of Batman was so well received that he was soon cast in subsequent DC Universe Animated Original Movies and the highly acclaimed Batman: Arkham and Injustice video games.

Conroy first came to New York in 1973, when he received a full scholarship to study drama at Juilliard under John Houseman. Conroy moved to California in 1980 to try his hand at television. The daytime soap opera Another World cast him in a role. Conroy’s career took off after he appeared in productions of Hamlet and A Midsummer Night’s Dream at San Diego, California’s Old Globe Theatre.
From 1980 to 1985, he appeared in numerous plays, both new and old, on Broadway, including Lolita (in an adaptation by Edward Albee) and Eastern Standard. He told the New York Times that he “went to so many funerals that I felt such a sense of obligation” to play the role of a TV producer hiding his AIDS in Eastern Standard because he was a gay man living in New York during the AIDS epidemic.

Conroy made his TV comeback in the 1985 film Covenant, and he also appeared in the daytime soap opera Search for Tomorrow. In 1985 and 1986, Conroy starred on Dynasty as gay lawyer Bart Fallmont. Before starring in a string of TV movies, he was a regular on the 1987 series Ohara and the 1987–1988 series Tour of Duty as the company commander.
Even though he was supposed to be a major player in the show, his part was reduced while they were filming in Hawaii, and he spent most of his time instead painting portraits of tourists on the Honolulu boardwalk. Conroy has also appeared in guest roles on shows like “Cheers,” “Search for Tomorrow,” “Matlock,” and “Murphy Brown.”
