Social media sensation: Jan. 19 was the deadline for $2,000 stimulus checks.
Political Fact has deemed this statement to be false
This is the reason: False claims about $2,000 stimulus checks being delivered on Jan. 19 have been made on Facebook.
“$2000 January 19th – STIMULUS CHECK DELIVERY DATE!” is the caption on a Facebook video. The hashtag “#stimuluscheckupdate2022” is also included.
During the Obama administration, you can see Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) discussing Social Security reform on the Senate floor. Economic stimulus payments for all eligible Americans aren’t mentioned in the video at all. As part of Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation in its News Feed, the video was shared on the social media platform and marked as such by users.
A total of $3,200 has been distributed to eligible Americans: $1,200 in April 2020; $600 in either December 2020 or January 2021; and $1,400 in March 2021. These payments are part of the federal government’s stimulus programme.
A fourth stimulus payment has been discussed by the public, but no payments have yet been made. According to a report by CBS News on Feb. 1, the Biden administration has prioritised infrastructure spending, and some economists believe that previous stimulus payments have contributed to inflation.
There will be no more stimulus payments, according to a senior fellow at the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, a Washington D.C.-based think tank that monitors federal economic policy.

An additional stimulus payment round has not been approved by Congress thus far, according to Janet Holtzblatt. In addition, the Build Back Better legislation, which is part of Biden’s domestic agenda, which stalled.
While the federal government has no immediate plans to distribute a fourth stimulus check, states like California and Maine have recently distributed or plan to distribute these payments. According to a USA Today report in December, each state has its own set of eligibility requirements. Unemployed residents of Arizona could receive a one-time payment of $2,000 if they returned to work. There are federal funds that must be distributed in various ways, including paid sick leave or family leave, according to CNBC’s report in January.
The Child Tax Credit, another payment to Americans, does not appear to be returning either. It’s unclear whether or not Biden will be able to get it into the Build Back Better legislation, he said at a press conference on January 19. However, if you have a child who was born in 2021 and did not receive the credit in that year, you may still be eligible, according to the IRS.
To Conclude
There has been no movement in Congress to authorize a fourth stimulus check amid the pandemic. Americans did not receive stimulus payments on Jan. 19, and there is no evidence that they will be distributed anytime soon.
We rate this False.
