It was much anticipated and touching that Kate Middleton would attend the Wimbledon men’s singles final. The Princess of Wales, who made her cancer diagnosis public a few months ago, attended the game from the Royal Box with her sister Pippa Middleton, daughter Princess Charlotte, and celebrities Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Cruise.
Despite everything she’s been through, the Princess of Wales appeared wonderfully content and at ease, which makes sense given that Wimbledon is where she’s always at her best. She’s been to the event for a number of years, and this year was going to be no different.
Along With Her Sister and Daughter, Kate Middleton Attended Wimbledon
When Kate Middleton arrived at the tennis court, the crowd erupted in applause and gave her a standing ovation. Princess Charlotte, who is only nine years old, could sense it was a momentous time for her mother, thus it was an emotional moment. As the Princess of Wales stood and waved to her adoring admirers, the young Princess could be seen looking up at Kate in wonder.
The photographer who took the photo, Karwai Tang, has worked at Wimbledon before and is familiar with the Princess’s typical reaction having visited the competition for many years. He told PEOPLE that her actions this time showed that she was aware that it was a crucial moment and that people needed to see her.
“[Kate] typically descends the stairs to her seat when she arrives. Normally, she wouldn’t stand there and wave. But she stood and watched everything for a long time. It was amazing that she acknowledged it and returned the accolades.”
Additionally, the photographer said that this might indicate the Princess is recovering and will soon resume her responsibilities.
“She didn’t seem to have changed since the previous Wimbledon. She seemed to be back. It was so encouraging for her to have their applause and cheers when they entered. Wimbledon had been anxiously awaiting her return, and now she was there.
Fans Discovered Kate Middleton’s Last-minute Attendance
Since Kate Middleton is an avid tennis fan, there had been rumors that she will attend Wimbledon, but nothing solid had been verified until yesterday. The Princess was obviously excited to go, but her health came first, and it seems that Prince William had to give the get-ahead for her to go.
Paul Burrell, the former butler of the royal family, claims that the Prince of Wales has been deeply troubled by his wife’s illness and that Kate trusts him to make the best decisions for her. As a result, it was he who decided that Kate was well enough to attend the tournament.
William is in charge of this household, thus he will determine whether or not she is capable of doing this because he is the one who strongly defends the family. He will never, ever subject Kate to more intrusion than she can bear. He is very fiercely guarded.”
Paul Burrell clarified that rather than being domineering, William is using it as a means of reducing Kate’s stress since she might push herself too hard because she “knows the world will want to see her.”
Kate is safe with William by her side because he will look out for her and would never allow someone to hurt her. She has complete faith in William, in my opinion, and he has the last word.
As seen by her upbeat demeanor during Wimbledon, Kate Middleton appears to be becoming stronger by the day.
