Gun Expert Disagrees With Alec Baldwin’s ‘Rust’ Trial Defense

A tragedy occurred on the Rust movie set in October of 2021. Film director Joel Souza was hurt, and cinematographer Halyna Hutchins died when Alec Baldwin unintentionally shot a revolver at two individuals. Since then, Alec has struggled with remorse about the incident, and he now faces jail time as a result.

Alec Baldwin‘s trial has just started, whereas Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, a Rust armorer, was already convicted and given an 18-month prison sentence. It remains to be seen what impact this will have on the actor after a key aspect of his case was refuted by fresh testimony from a firearms manufacturer.

Testimony from a Gun Manufacturer Could Affect Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin is currently on trial for the horrific accident that claimed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins’ life in 2021 when she was working on the Rust movie set. The performer might spend up to 18 months behind bars. His case appears to have suffered from recent testimony from Alessandro Pietta, a maker of antique firearms.

Alec Baldwin’s defense insists that he did not pull the trigger and the gun went off on its own. Alec Baldwin killed the Ukrainian cinematographer when he inadvertently fired a Pietta Firearms gun. But that’s just not conceivable, in Alessandro Pietta’s opinion.

The actor’s Colt.45 model, from his company Pietta Firearms, “cannot fire without a pull of trigger because the mechanics and design of trigger was made to work in this way,” the gun expert assured the jury.

“You must pull the trigger in order to release the hammer.”

In addition, he mentioned that the pistol looked flawless upon inspection and that he had never received a complaint from a client over his company’s firearms going off on their own.

Even though the trial is still in its early stages, Alec Baldwin’s primary defense case is explicitly refuted by this testimony.

Alec Baldwin Says He Was Not the One to Pull the Trigger

It makes sense that Alec Baldwin was upset following the terrible incident. Though he sincerely regrets what transpired that day, he maintains that he did not pull the trigger that resulted in the murder of the cinematographer and the injuries sustained by Rust director Joel Souza. He will likely never forget the death of Halyna Hutchins.

Shortly after the incident, in December 2021, he shared his version of events with ABC News.

“The lever was not released. Not that I pulled the trigger. With tears in his eyes, he declared, “I would never point a gun at someone and pull the trigger on them, never.”

August 2022, a few months later, he clarified that he was informed the rifle was safe to use.

“The man who’s the principal safety officer on the set of the film declared that the gun was safe when he handed it to me,” he said. “This is a cold pistol, the person who served as the movie’s chief safety officer announced to the whole group. Now, if he wasn’t sure and hadn’t checked, why did he say that?”

Alec Baldwin concluded by saying that he was curious about the cause of the disaster and that he believed it to be the guy “who put a live round in the gun.”

“That concludes it. There’s nothing more to inquire about.”
