On Monday, Simone Biles and her boyfriend Jonathan Owens enjoyed a memorable Valentine’s Day. The gymnastics great accepted the Houston Texans safety’s proposal. The pair, who have been together for roughly 18 months, announced their engagement on Tuesday morning on social media.
Simone Biles said on Instagram, “THE EASIEST YES.” “I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you; you’re all I’ve ever wanted and more! Let’s tie the knot, FIANCÉ.”
Jonathan Owens wrote, “Woke up this morning with a fiancée.” “I appreciate my dawg @don julio314 for assisting me in setting things up; she had no idea what was in store.”
Biles, who will be 25 in March, is widely regarded as one of the greatest gymnasts of all time, with a total of 32 Olympic and World Championship medals, which matches her for the most in the sport’s history. Biles was born in Ohio but relocated to the Houston suburb of Spring when she was three years old to live with her grandparents.
Owens, 26, recently finished his third season with the Texans, appearing in seven games — two of which he started – and recording 18 tackles and an interception.
Owens, an undrafted free agent out of Missouri Western, has been released four times before the start of the regular season, but each time he has returned to the league on the practice squad.
Owens spent the 2018 season on injured reserve with the Arizona Cardinals before being added to the Texans’ practice squad when the Cardinals released him in 2019. In 2019, Owens appeared in one regular-season game for the Texans. Owens was released by the Texans on the last day of roster cuts in 2020, however, he was signed to the practice squad the following day. That season, he appeared in six regular-season games for the Texans.
