Contrary to what some have claimed on social media, there are no plans for a fourth Stimulus Check

Some tax experts have warned that the 2022 filing season could see some of the same problems that plagued the IRS in 2021 when several rounds of stimulus checks caused severe backlogs.

According to a variety of social media posts, the government is about to distribute another round of stimulus checks.

“Everyone will get a $2,000 check! THE FOURTH STIMULUS CHECK “On a Facebook video viewed more than 20,000 times, the title reads.

YouTube videos claiming that the checks would be deposited on February 9 received an additional 40,000 views because of their titles.

However, there was no evidence of an upcoming payment in any of the videos. As a result of the fact that there is not one.

Taxpayers will not receive a fourth stimulus payment from the IRS, the agency confirmed.

They couldn’t get in touch with the poster to get their thoughts.

As of now, a fourth stimulus check is unlikely

Many people on the internet have recently called for the approval of a fourth stimulus check, arguing that despite the payments ceasing, the pandemic has not.

Three million people have signed a Change.org petition calling for $2,000 payments for adults and $1,000 payments for children until the pandemic is over.

However, IRS spokesperson Eric Smith tells USA TODAY that no such payment has been approved.

Misinformation about fourth stimulus checks has been circulated before. Identical articles appeared in May and July of the following year, 2021.

Analysts aren’t sure if the government will approve a fourth stimulus check.

According to CBS News, the administration of Vice President Joe Biden’s focus on infrastructure and criticisms that the previous stimulus contributed to ongoing inflation have reduced the likelihood of another cash infusion.

A timeline of Past stimulus checks

Nearly two years ago, the pandemic stimulus payments began.

Unemployment and financial hardship for many were exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic’s early stages in the spring of 2020 when stimulus checks were first issued. Individuals earning less than $75,000 and couples earning less than $150,000 each received $1,200 and $2,400, respectively.

The second round of stimulus checks will be issued by the Trump administration in December 2020 in the amount of $600 per individual taxpayer and $1,200 per married couple, with an additional $600 being provided for each child under the age of seventeen.

In March 2021, the Biden administration introduced a third round of benefits, this time providing $1,400 per individual and $2,800 per married couple, plus an additional $1,400 for each dependent.
