Today, the IRS’s Low Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC) Program office released a summary of its annual report for the year ending December 31, 2021.
Individual taxpayers with low incomes or who are learning English as a second language can benefit from LITCs’ representation, education, and advocacy, according to the study (ESL).
It’s a federal grant program that is overseen by the Taxpayer Advocate Service, which is headed by Erin M. Collins, the National Taxpayer Advocate.
LITCs represent low- and moderate-income taxpayers who are involved in IRS audits, appeals, or collection disputes and whose incomes fall below 250 percent of the federal poverty guideline. Litigation and IRS representation can be provided by LITCs to taxpayers.
